Alliston Lands Expansion Franchise
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 14:51    PDF Print E-mail

The GMHL is proud to announce that an expansion franchise has been granted to the town of Alliston for the 2013-14 season. The expansion team will be known as the Alliston Coyotes. This brings the GMHL to a 16 team league looking forward to the 2013-14 regular season.

Owners Nikita Vasilyev and Igor Vasilyev will head the team. The Vasilyev tandem has been involved with the GMHL since 2008; recruiting some of the most talented hockey players this league has ever seen.

The Coyotes are already underway developing a website, logo and recruiting players for next season. Training camp for the club will kick off in August 2013, details will be announced shortly.

GMHL President Bob Russell confirmed the new team in an over the phone interview earlier last week. "We're excited," said Russell, "Alliston is a great hockey community, Nikita and Igor will do well there."
