Vaillancourt does the GMHL and Elmira College proud with outstanding performance in 2009-2010! Former GMHLer, Darcy Vaillancourt, received numerous accolades from Elmira College and the NCAA with his performance for the Screaming Eagles this past season. According to reports from Elmira College , Darcy, in his second year with the Eagles, "had a breakout season this year totaling career highs in goals (20), points (20), and assists (40). He was the team leader in points, goals, and power play goals (12). Vaillancourt was a statistical leader in the ECAC West, finishing first in points scoring with 1.48 points per game, second in goal scoring with .74 goals per game, tied for fourth in assists scoring with .74 assists per game, first in power play points with .78 points per game, and first in power play goals with .44 power play goals per game. Vaillancourt?s .44 power play goals per game were not only best in the ECAC West but best in NCAA Division III Hockey." Also from Elmira 's website in early March, just prior to the National Tournament: "Darcy Vaillancourt ?12 (Bonfield, ONT -- Innisfil Lakers, GMJHL) has been named EC Athlete of the Week for his superb play in this past week?s hockey game." "Vaillancourt was spectacular in Saturday night?s ECAC West Championship game against the Valiants of Manhattanville College. He scored two goals in the game which at the time put EC up 2-1, and 3-2. His second goal of the night came on a power play opportunity in the third period. For his efforts he was named to the ECAC West All-Tournament Team." "The second year forward has been a key factor Elmira ?s success this season. He ranks among the best in the ECAC West Conference and in NCAA Division III National statistics. In the ECAC West, Vaillancourt is currently ranked 1st in points per game (1.79), 1st in goals per game (.93), 1st in power play points (1.07), 1st in power play goals per game (.64), and 6th in assist scoring (.86). Nationally he is 17th in points per game, 15th in goals per game, and third in power play goals per game." Outstanding performance by the former Innisfil Laker, and great to see another former alumnus doing so well that he's considered a leader of the team in only his sophmore season. Elmira College is an institution with a long track record of signing Bradford Rattler players even prior to the formation of the GMHL in 2006, and has been a keen follower of the league since then. Former Rattler Karl Linden was the GMHL's first All-American, earning that honour last year, and Vaillancourt's teammate in Innisfil, Brian Davidson also plays for the Screaming Eagles. Congratulations, Darcy! |
