UPDATED NEWS AND NOTES FROM AROUND THE GMHL!
Friday, 13 August 2010 00:00    PDF Print E-mail
  • GMHL owners met last week to devise this season's upcoming schedule, but the league will wait until early next week to release it after an inquiry from an existing club to join the league early this week, which the league is considering.
  • The GMHL ownership group agreed to revisit the overage limit for this season.  For the 2010-2011 season, teams are allowed to carry up to 10 players 20 or 21 years old, of which a maximum of 3 may be 21, of which 1 may be a 'Free Agent', a player who did not play the minimum of 5 games in the GMHL last season.
  • The Vaughan Fighting Saints have chosen to revert back to the nickname of Wild, as the former King team were known.  A new logo and colour scheme will be announced shortly.
  • The GMHL is disappointed to announce that the Innisfil Lakers are taking a Leave of Absence for the 2010-2011 season, and are working to restructure the organization for the 2011-2012 season.
  • GMHL league sponsor, the World Hockey Centre, are offering GMHL players an opportunity to train in their summer program for a substantial discount.  Interested teams and players may click on the WHC logo on the website.
  • The GMHL is pleased to support the PLAY IT COOL program, an injury prevention program of the Canadian Spinal Research Foundation's SHOOT FOR A CURE campaign.
  • The GMHL will be moving to our new website shortly.  We'd planned to replace the current site several weeks ago, but considering the upgrade to our stats systems, among other items, it's taken slightly longer than expected.
  • MORE TO COME!
