Almaguin Spartans Give Back to the CommunityAugust 20th, 2018 at 9:08AM August 20th, 2018 2:12PM
South River, Ontario- The Almaguin Spartans have had a busy offseason this year trying to build a team that can make a bid for a back-to-back Russell Cup Championship. However, the Spartans have been doing more than just building a team this offseason, they have also been taking apart of their community as well. Specifically, the Spartans have decided to help out a local track star in their community.
The local track star is Hudson Booth, who hails from the Almaguin region in Ontatrio. Booth will be participating in the CPISRA World Games in Sant Cugat, Spain from August 7th to 11th and will be representing Team Canada. Booth is a young man who has worked incredibly hard to achieve his dream, he has pushed past any obstacle over the years to become a world-class athlete, and is an inspiration to many and an incredible ambassador for the Almaguin region. The Almaguin Spartans have decided to support Booth in his journey to Spain by donating items to a silent auction held for him and by donating $500 to assist him with the costs of the World Games.
David Forde, the General Manager of the Almaguin Spartans had this to say about Booth, “Our organization is heavily involved in the Almaguin community and we support a number of local organizations. When we heard Hudson Booth had qualified for the CP[ISRA] World Games in Spain and needed some financial assistance to help him attend these championships, we immediately wanted to help out. We donated items to the silent auction held for him in June and also gave him a financial donation to assist him. Hudson is a young athlete who has worked incredibly hard and has overcome obstacles in his life to become a world-class athlete. We will continue to help him in anyway we can, as I’m sure this will be the first of many trips to international events for Hudson.”
The GMHL is proud to see one of its teams giving back to their community. We would like to wish Hudson Booth the best of luck at the CPISRA World Games in Sant Cugat, Spain, and we hope that he can join the Spartans as Champions with a Gold Medal.
