January 6, 2011 JETS CLOSE IN ON BUCKS FOR FIRST IN SOUTH DIVISION PLAYOFF SEEDING! First place in the South Division playoff seeding will be on the line when the Jamestown Jets host the Bobcaygeon Bucks on Friday and Saturday at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. The first round of this year's playoff format will include the league's 13 teams being seeded within North and South Divisions based along geographical lines, before reverting back to a single 8 team standing for the Quarter Finals. The Jets come into this game riding a five game winning streak that has moved them into third place in the GMHL South Division and only four points behind the first place Bucks. With four points on the line this weekend the Jets could move into a first place tie by Saturday night. The games this weekend are important to both the Jets and the Bucks but Jamestown still has five games in hand on Bobcaygeon. The Bucks lead the South Division with an 18-11-1 record and 37 points but the Jets have played only 25 games and head into this showdown with a 16-8-1 record and 33 points. Jamestown won the first meeting between the two teams on November 28, 2010 at Bobcaygeon. Jets all-star Jarrett Pfeiffer led the way scoring six times including four consecutive goals to pull the Jets to a 5-1 lead. Jamestown eventually went to win by an 8-4 margin. Nick Barnett made 44 saves in the victory for Jamestown. This will be a busy weekend for Jamestown as they will host the Deseronto Storm for Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.. This will be the first time Deseronto will visit Jamestown this season although they beat Jamestown 6-4 earlier this season at Deseronto. Tickets for all three games are available by visiting the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena box office. Ticket information is available by visiting www.jamestownjets.com. 5 JETS SELECTED TO GMHL ALL-STAR TEAM The Greater Metro Hockey League announced the rosters for the 2010-2011 All-Star game that is scheduled to take place on Saturday January 15, 2010.
