77's START SECOND HALF WITH BIG WIN ON THE ROAD!

The 77's travelled to Toronto to take on the Toronto Canada Moose on Wednesday night and came out on the winning side outscoring the Moose 7-6.

This was a back and forth game that saw penalties assesed to both sides, lead changes and a pretty exciting finish.  The Moose made this evening a special event by going out a hustling tickets around the community and they had a real nice crowd in the building to take in this exciting matchup.

The 77's and the Moose were notched at 2 aside after 20 minutes of play.  The 2nd period would see the Moose take a 3-2 lead at the 14 minute mark only to have the 77's tie it up and take a 5-4 lead into the dressing room.  In the 3rd the 77's blew it open and took what looked to be a commanding 7-4 lead with 11 minutes left in the contest.  However in the GMHL no lead is safe and the Moose tallied 2 goals to make it close.  The 77's would prevail and leave Toronto with a well deserved two points on a 7-6 victory.

Here is what Coach Geary had to say after the game, "The guys came in ready to play tonight.  We gave them a game plan and for the most part they stuck to it and had success.  We did have a few minor breakdowns that cost us in the defensive zone but that can be worked on.  The main thing is that we walked away with two points on the road and the guys have something to build on going into a tough 2 game set next weekend".

The 77's also welcomed goaltender Mark Wardell to the lineup last night.  Mark had just arrived from his hometown of Estaire Ontario (Sudbury area) in time to dress for the contest.  The 77's are excited to have Wardell on the roster as they move forward into the new year.
