Titans crush the Wave
The Temiscaming Titans moved into sole possession of third place early in the GMHL season with a crushing 15-1 victory over the visiting Lefroy Wave. The win also improves the Titans record to 4-0. The trio of Andre Leclair, Robin Mendelsohn and D.J. Tahbazian collected a total of 21 points. Leclair had 4 goals and 5 assists while Mendelsohn had a pair of goals and five helpers and Tahbazian had a goal and 4 assists. The Titans led 6-1 after the first period, other goals came from Ryan Adams, Richard Abbott, Cody Labrecque and Jimmy Happyjack. The lone goal of the evening for the Wave to beat Reilly Turner came off the stick of Tyler Roache. Shots were 16-11 Titans after 20 minutes. A total of six minor penalties were called with the Titans taking four.
The second period didn't see the home team slow down too much as the Titans put in 5 more goals to lead 11-1 after 40 minutes. Ravi Chand, short handed and Matthew Chasse, on a breakaway were the other goal scorers during the middle frame. Again the Titans held a slight edge on the shot clock, 14-13.
Richard Abbott and Chris Saganash were among the goal scorers in the final period. Late in the period, frustration began to set in with some of the Wave players and this induced some extra curricular activities in the last minute and a half of the game as two players from each team were ejected for fighting. Shots were even at 15 apiece. Overall 45-39 Titans. Reilly Turner earned his second victory and now leads the league with a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .974
3 stars were: Andre Leclair, Robin Mendelsohn and Reilly Turner
Next home game for the Titans is Thursday October 6th at 8pm against the Shelburne Red Wings
