The Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks built a 4-1 lead after two periods and hung on through an intense final 20 minutes in front of a frenzied crowd for a 6-1 win over the Temiscaming Titans in Game 6 of the Greater Metro Hockey League final series, wrapping up the championship at a packed Sturgeon Falls Arena.

Playoff Structure

The GMHL currently has 13 teams, all of whom have made the playoffs. The teams which finished 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd respectively earn byes into the second round. This leaves the remaining teams, who will be matched up from 4^th-13^th, 5^th-12th, etc, for the first round of playoffs. The second round will have even eight teams remaining; the teams will be re-seeded and matched up in reference to their regular season position.

All games will be 3 x 20 minute, stop time periods.  If tied at the end of regulation there will be a 1 minute break, followed by 5 minutes, stop time, of 4 on 4 hockey.  If the game is still tied, there will be a 1 minute break followed by 3 minutes, stop time, of 3 on 3 hockey.  If the game is still tied, there will be a shoot out, with 3 players from each team.  If the game is still tied, there will be a shoot out with 1 shooter from each team until a winner is determined.  At this point each skater on the team must shoot before any player takes a second shot.

First Round: Best 2 out of 3
(Feb. 21st to Feb. 26)

Second Round: Best 3 out of 5
(Feb. 27 to March 8)

Third Round: Best 4 out of 7
(March 9 to March 20)

Final Round: Best 4 out of 7
(March 21 to April 2)

Rounds must be completed within the dates stated above.

With the Temiscaming Titans, Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks and Bradford Rattlers finishing in the top three positions respectively, they have each earned byes into the second round of playoffs. This leaves the remaining ten teams to play in five series in the first round.
