The Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League has announced the third 'Players of the Month' of the year for January of this 2023-2024 hockey season.

Forward – Alexis Bourboin, Ville-Marie Pirates

Six players in the GMHL have hit the 30-goal mark at this point in the season, no player has done it in fewer games than our forward of the month, 2002 born Alexis Bourboin. The Pirates forward has scored 30 goals and added 29 assists for 59 points in only 23 games (his 2.57 Points per game is second in the North division only to Pirates teammate Mickael Hebert). In December alone Bourboin potted 10 of those goals and added 8 assists, including a hat trick (4 point) performance with all eyes on him at the showcase against Durham. He scored the game winning goal in that game as he did 3 times alone in the month of December (He currently leads the league in Game Winning Goals with 7 on the season. Prior to joining the Pirates Bourboin played in the QJHL where he was a point per game player for the Valleyfield Braves

Defenceman – Zach Correia, Bradford Bulls

Bulls Captain Zach Correia appeared in 7 of the Bulls 8 games in December and the Bulls were victorious in all 7 of them (there lone loss came against the Rattlers in a game Correia missed). The 2002 born blueliner from Brampton Ontario had 14 points (4G, 10A) in 7 games was the 1st star in the matchup they had with the Knights and earned 3rd star in their last game before the break. Prior to joining the Bulls Correia played 5 years of junior hockey spent mainly between the Richmond Generals of the USPHL and the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the CCHL.

Goaltender – Gleb Rakov, St. George Ravens

Gleb Rakov was asked to answer the bell three times in the shortened month of December for the Ravens in those 3 games Rakov had a pair of shutouts against the Toronto Flyers and made 24 saves against a tough Railers team in defeat. He ended the month with a 1.66 GAA and 76 saves in those games. On the season the 2005 born goalie had appeared in six games compiling a 3-3-0 record, a 2.17 GAA (would be second amongst goaltenders in the league if he qualified) and a Save percentage of .935 (would also be second in the league if he qualified). Prior to joining the Ravens Gleb played 2 years of Kazakhstan U20 where he went 16-13-0 in 29 games.

85 U18 Skaters have played in the GMHL this season, among those players 4 of the top 6 scorers are on the Bradford Rattlers including the leading U18 Forward scorer Artyom Borisov. Borisov is currently pacing all U18 players in goals with 20 (also 19th in the league and leading all Russian born players). In December the Rattlers played to a perfect 6-0 record, even though he was kept off the scoresheet in two of these games Borisov still managed to finish the month with 8 Points on 5 Goals and 3 Assists, including 3rd Star performances against the South Division leading Renegades at the showcase and the Stars the following game.
