Dynasty Pressure Meets Lynx Redemption

 February 25th, 2026 at 1:14AM  February 26th, 2026 6:36AM

The reigning three-time Russell Cup champions, the second-seeded Bradford Rattlers, begin their quest for a fourth straight title against the third-seeded West Nipissing Lynx in a best-of-five North Division semifinal.

Bradford earned a first-round bye and enters rested. West Nipissing arrives battle-tested after eliminating the Knights of Meaford in Round 1.

But beyond awards and regular-season dominance, this series carries history.

A Familiar Playoff Storyline

The last time these two teams met in the playoffs was the 2023-2024 North Division Final, when Bradford swept West Nipissing 4-0.

There are still major pieces on both sides from that series.

From Bradford:

  • Isac Karlsson (Captain) — who scored a hat trick in the series-clinching game

  • Roman Orekhov (Assistant Captain)

  • Matvei Munits (Assistant Captain)

From West Nipissing:

  • Mathias Drolet (Captain)

  • Riley Findlater (Assistant Captain)

  • Zachary Major

  • Vladislav Morozyuk

This is not a new matchup. There are memories in both dressing Deadline Impact

Bradford made the splash move of the deadline by acquiring Tighe Frazee from Tottenham.

Already top-five in league scoring at the time, Frazee produced at nearly a three-point-per-game pace with the Rattlers

Frazee’s recognition:

  • Heart Award (Winner)

  • North Division MVP – 2nd Runner-Up

Bradford added elite talent to an already elite roster.

Award Recognition

Bradford’s decorated core:

  • Isac Karlsson – MVP & Best Forward

  • Tighe Frazee – Heart Award Winner, MVP Runner-Up

  • Adam Dobrecky – Best Forward (2nd Runner-Up)

  • DonHeaven Veilleux – Best Defensive Forward (1st Runner-Up)

  • David Mooney – Best Coach (Winner)

Mooney has now won Coach of the Year three of the past four seasons, reinforcing the stability behind the dynasty.

West Nipissing counters with structure and recognition:

  • Adam Shillinglaw – Best Defenseman (Winner)

  • Tyler Thibodeau – Best Defensive Forward (2nd Runner-Up)

  • Vladislav Morozyuk – Best Goalie (2nd Runner-Up)

  • Zachary Major – Most Sportsmanlike (2nd Runner-Up)

  • Braden Simon – Best Coach (1st Runner-Up)

This is experience versus structure.

Regular Season Series

  • Bradford: 5-0-0

  • Goals: 32-8 Bradford

The Rattlers dominated the regular-season meetings. The Lynx struggled to generate sustained offense and contain Bradford’s pace.

But playoff rematches have a way of shifting momentum.

Goaltending Matchup

Bradford

Patrik Cullin earned the crease.

Despite no formal award, he led the league in GAA and was twice named Goaltender of the Month. His 2.36 GAA and .918 save percentage highlight his consistency.

West Nipissing

The Lynx will rely on Vladislav Morozyuk and a defensive-first identity. Rebound control and neutral-zone discipline will be critical.

West Nipissing’s Path

The Lynx eliminated Tottenham in Round 1 by tightening defensively and capitalizing on key moments.

Offensive drivers:

  • Tyler Thibodeau – 59 points

  • Adam Shillinglaw – 53 points from the blue line

  • Zachary Major – 51 points

  • Carson Ruddy & Saveliy Kornev – 42 points each

They must dictate tempo and limit open ice.
