GMHL Divisional Finals are Set

One series win away from the Russell Cup National Championship

Divisional Finals

 

The second round of the GMHL playoffs is now over and now the teams are set for the third round on March 15th.

 

The third round will feature:

The North Division

 

Bradford Rattlers v Ville-Marie Pirates

 

The Rattlers ended their series versus the Titans in overtime and will look to continue their undefeated streak since the all-star break. Ville-Marie dropped game one versus the Knights but bounced back with 3 straight dominant wins to win their series.

 

The West Division

 

High Prairie Red Wings v Edson Eagles

&

Kitimat Saax v Mackenzie Mountaineers

 

The Red Wings will look to continue their Western domination as they face the Edson Eagles in the West Alberta finals. The eagles swept the Tomahawks (4-0) to move onto the finals. While the Saax are looking to give the Mountaineers their first lost this season. 

 

The South Division

 

North York Renegades v Bradford Bulls

 

Both the Renegades and the Bulls have yet to lose a game in these playoffs. The Renegades swept the Predators while the Bulls swept the Roadrunners.

 

Players to watch in these series include:

Jordan Riviere of the Pirates who has posted 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 6 games so far these playoffs.

Keegan Ferguson of the Red Wings has 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points in 6 games.

Bryson Wilkinson of the Edson Eagles also has 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points in 9 games.

Ryan Fritz has 3 goals and 14 assists for 17 points in 5 games for the Renegades.

Jesper Eriksson has 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points in 3 games for the Rattlers.

Finally, Esa Patton has 1 goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 5 games for the Bulls.

 

The Winner of these two (North, South) series will be representing their Division in the nationals held in Temiscaming Quebec. The dates of that event are from March 30th to April 2nd, where a Russell Cup champion will be named. For the Ouest Division representatives it will be the British Columbia winners versus the Alberta winners to determine who goes to Temiscaming.
