The Moose came out against the Tamworth Cyclones this past Saturday night looking for revenge for two pre-Christmas losses that put the Moose\'s charge toward 4th place in jeopardy!
Playing against a depleted lineup, the Moose scored early and often, scoring 4 times in the first four minutes en route to a 7-2 first period lead, eventually racking up a team record for goals in a 17-3 win.
Our Europeans led the way, with Swedish forward Emil Arvidsson and Slovakian defenseman both registering hat-tricks, while Christopher Trauzzi, Derrick Hamner, and Mike Djogovic adding two each. Tyler Persaud, Gianmarco Aiello, Luigi Martone, Joe Monticchio, and Aaron Beally, with his first career Junior goal rounded out the scoring. Aiello also added 4 assists, while Persaud added 3.
Radim Jurena, Brendan Hamner, and former leading scorer Jon Minard, who rejoined the team in December, did not play.
Coming up this weekend are two possbile playoff previews against two strong South Division opponents, as the Moose travel to Deseronto to take on the Storm - our first round opponent in the possible, though unlikely case that we can catch King for fourth place - and on Saturday, we welcome two-time defending champion Bradford - our probable opponent in the first round if they finish behind the Innisfil Lakers in the battle for first and second place in the South Division.
We\'ve split our first two game against the Storm, with each team winning in the other team\'s rink, and we\'ll face them again in Thornhill on the 21st. Bradford has beaten us three straight times this year, including a 14-2 debacle a few weeks ago in Bradford, catching us on a real bad night. The Moose are ready to show they belong with the Rattlers, and avenge that lopsided loss.
