Hot off the press in Brighton! Building community ties.
BRIGHTON VIKINGS NAME MASCOT 'ALFIE'
The Brighton Vikings announced today that the team's new mascot will be named Alfie, inspired in part by the late Brighton resident Alfie Gregg and decided by a fan vote run in late August.
"It quickly became clear during our fan vote that Alfie was a huge part of many children's hockey experiences in the community," said Vikings owner Tony Iezzi. "Minor hockey is such a huge part of the Canadian experience, and the tireless efforts of thousands of people like Alfie make it possible — we're proud to honour that."
As part of the team's Name the Mascot Contest, Sarah McDonald has won a pair of passes for the Vikings' inaugural season; Sarah was one of many area youth hockey players who benefited from the support of Alfie Gregg at the rink.
Alfie will be on site at the team's home opener weekend, featuring 7:30 p.m. starts against the Orangeville Blitz on both Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th.
Season tickets are available now on the Vikings Website; single-game tickets will be available at the door at King Edward Park Arena.
