GMHL WEEKLY GAME REPORT
September 25 – October 1, 2026
The 2026/27 GMHL season continued to pick up speed this week with 13 regular-season games played from September 25 through October 1.
The week featured several impressive offensive performances, a historic opening weekend for the Brighton Vikings, overtime drama in Bradford, and another dominant performance from the Northumberland Stars.
With the early-season standings beginning to take shape, teams are already establishing themselves as contenders while others continue to search for their first wins of the season.
THIS WEEK'S RESULTS
Friday, September 25
Northumberland Stars 9 — Bradford Bulls 1
The Northumberland Stars continued their strong start to the season with another dominant offensive performance, defeating the Bradford Bulls 9–1.
The Stars continued to combine offensive production with strong defensive play, improving to 3–0 on the season.
West Nipissing Lynx 12 — Almaguin Spartans 4
West Nipissing opened the weekend with a huge offensive performance, scoring 12 goals against Almaguin.
The Lynx continued to demonstrate why they entered the weekend among the early leaders in the North Division.
Brighton Vikings 6 — Orangeville Blitz 3
History was made in Brighton as the expansion Vikings played their first-ever regular-season game and home opener.
Brighton came out strong and defeated the previously undefeated Orangeville Blitz 6–3.
It was an impressive beginning for the new GMHL franchise and a memorable night for the Brighton hockey community.
Bradford Rattlers 9 — Temiscaming Titans 5
The Bradford Rattlers opened their weekend with a nine-goal performance against Temiscaming, earning a 9–5 victory.
The Rattlers continued to show their offensive depth while the Titans continued to battle through a difficult opening stretch.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
West Nipissing Lynx 2 — Bradford Rattlers 6
Bradford followed up Friday's victory with another strong performance, defeating West Nipissing 6–2 on the road.
The Rattlers held the Lynx to just two goals after West Nipissing had scored 12 the previous night.
Ville-Marie Pirates 9 — Tottenham Railers 3
Ville-Marie continued its strong start to the season with a nine-goal performance against Tottenham.
The Pirates controlled the game offensively and earned their third victory of the season.
Toronto Flyers 5 — North York Renegades 4 OT
The Toronto Flyers and North York Renegades provided one of the week's closest games.
Toronto came away with a 5–4 overtime victory, earning its first win of the season.
Brighton Vikings 5 — Orangeville Blitz 4
Brighton completed a historic opening weekend sweep with a thrilling 5–4 victory over Orangeville.
The Vikings finished their first weekend of GMHL hockey with a perfect 2–0 record.
Yenri Jibb led Brighton's offensive attack over the two-game series with five goals and seven points, while Timofei Ergardt, Lazarus Constant and Matvei Belyanin also contributed multi-point weekends.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
Ville-Marie Pirates 7 — Bradford Rattlers 6 OT
The Bradford Rattlers and Ville-Marie Pirates finished the weekend with an offensive thriller.
Ville-Marie scored a 7–6 overtime victory in Bradford, earning an important road win and handing the Rattlers their first loss of the season.
North York Renegades 5 — St. George Ravens 3
North York bounced back from Saturday's overtime loss to Toronto with a 5–3 victory over St. George.
The Renegades earned their first regulation victory of the 2026/27 season.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
Northumberland Stars 12 — Durham Roadrunners 2
Northumberland continued its impressive opening to the season with another huge offensive performance, scoring 12 goals against Durham.
The Stars moved to 4–0 and continued to lead the South Division.
Wasaga River Dragons 5 — North York Renegades 2
Wasaga opened its 2026/27 home schedule with a 5–2 victory over North York.
The River Dragons started their home campaign with a win in front of their home fans.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
Meaford Knights 7 — Bradford Bulls 0
The Meaford Knights made an impressive season debut, shutting out the Bradford Bulls 7–0.
Goaltender David Korepanov recorded a 19-save shutout, while Maksim Rikhard led the Knights offensively with five points, including four assists.
⭐ WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS
⭐ Brighton Vikings — Historic Debut
The biggest story of the week was undoubtedly the Brighton Vikings.
The expansion franchise opened its first GMHL season by sweeping Orangeville in two games, winning 6–3 and 5–4.
Brighton finished its inaugural weekend 2–0, giving the organization a memorable start to its first GMHL campaign.
⭐ Northumberland Stars — 4–0 Start
Northumberland continued its excellent start with wins over Bradford Bulls and Durham.
The Stars scored 21 goals in their two games this week, including a 12–2 victory over Durham.
After four games, Northumberland was 4–0 with eight points.
⭐ West Nipissing Lynx
West Nipissing had a busy weekend, scoring 12 goals against Almaguin before dropping a 6–2 decision to Bradford.
The Lynx entered October with five wins in their first six games and remained near the top of the North Division.
⭐ Meaford Knights
The Knights made their season debut in impressive fashion, shutting out Bradford Bulls 7–0.
Maksim Rikhard recorded five points and David Korepanov stopped all 19 shots he faced.
⭐ Ville-Marie Pirates
Ville-Marie had a strong weekend, defeating Tottenham 9–3 before winning a 7–6 overtime thriller against Bradford.
The Pirates entered October with three wins in four games.

The October schedule gets underway with several important divisional matchups as teams continue to establish themselves early in the 2026/27 season.
GMHL WEEKLY WRAP-UP
The September 25–October 1 period produced some of the most exciting hockey of the young GMHL season.
From Brighton's historic inaugural weekend to Northumberland's continued offensive dominance, Meaford's shutout victory and Ville-Marie's overtime win in Bradford, there was plenty of action across the league.
The season is still young, but the opening weeks have already shown that there will be plenty of competition throughout both divisions.
