The Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League has announced their players of the month for Decemeber of

The Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League has announced the 'Players of the Month' for December of the 2021-2022 hockey season.

The 'Players of the Month' honors is a distinction awarded to the player who is adjudged the best at his position & rookie through each month of the season.
(All stats listed as of January 3rd, 2022)

Forward – Kory Silverio, Windsor Aces
Former Windsor Spitfires OHL draft pick Kory Silverio has been scoring at a blazing pace for the Aces this season. The 4th year junior player is tops in the league in Points by more than 10 points with 88, leading the league in scoring with 51 Goals and sitting 7th in the league in assists with 38 in 26 games. The Windsor AAA product has scored the game winning goal in nearly half of the Aces wins this season and has not taken a single penalty. Prior to joining the Aces Silverio played two seasons of junior B hockey in the GOJHL for the Lasalle Vipers where he was nearly a point per game player and more recently he competed in the OJHL last season for the Brampton Admirals and the Burlington Cougars where he put up 32 points between the clubs.

Defenceman –Mikhail Kornilov, New Tecumseth Civics
Mikhail Kornilov is in his 6th season in the GMHL spent entirely with the Civics and has adapted to any role the team has needed him to play. Whether it be an energy guy providing a break for the top pairings during his first couple of seasons or someone who can shut down the team’s top weapon, Kornilov has done it. This current season has seen him take on a new role, Captain and has Kornilov ever embraced it since being given the C at the beginning of the year. This season Kornilov is more than a point per game player as a defencemen with 32 Points (18G, 14A) in 26 games and has helped the Civics remain competitive in a strong North Division. His most memorable moment so far came with his 4 goal performance against the Ville-Marie Pirates that sparked a huge Civics comeback in December.

Goaltender –Eloi Bouchard, Temiscaming Titans
Eloi has been the #1 goalie for the Temiscaming Titans and has been exceptional this season. He is currently the league leader in Wins (14), Save Percentage (.945), is 2nd in the division in Goals Against Average (2.08), and 4th in the division in Saves (513) and is tied for the league lead with a pair of shutouts. This is Bouchards 3rd season with the Titans and the 2001 born player has made the most of it solidifying the Titans as one of the favorites for the Russell Cup this season.

Rookie – Nathan Andrew, Northern Alberta Tomahawks
Nathan Andrew has helped the Norther Alberta Tomahawks to a 17-4-3 record and they are currently the #2 seed in the Western Division. One of fourty-four 2005 born players in the league this year Andrew has managed to pace them all, scoring 29 Points (11G,18A) in 22 games so far this season and is well on his way to establishing himself as a consistent point per game producer. Prior to his joining the Tomahawks this past offseason the Cranbrook, BC product played for the Cranbrook Hornets and East Kootenay Avalanche AA programs.
