THE 77\'S INAUGURAL SEASON COMES TO A DISAPPOINTING END

The 77\'s took on the third placed Nipissing Alouettes in the first round of 2008/09 playoffs with high hopes and plenty of confidence however they were not prepared for what the group from Sturgeon Falls had in store for them.
On Friday night, the visitors look poised and ready to attempt to steal game 1 however a couple of early first period goals had the 77\'s on their heels and they were unable to regroup to make a game of it. The Als goalie, Pat Beaudry, played outstanding in this series and game 1 was no different. He was able to thwart any offensive pressure that the 77\'s could muster only allowing two shots to slip past earning the 6-2 victory.
Saturday night was a much different story for the 77\'s as they outshot and outplayed the Als from the first drop of the puck. Tied at five heading into the third, an extremely costly five minute slashing penalty cost the 77\'s the game as the Als were able to score two. An empty netter sealed the affair with the 77\'s losing game two, 8-5, heading home to Oro-Medonte.
On Monday night, the home side was unable to manage any sustained attack and appeared to run out of gas. Attempts of pressure and offensive attacks were again snuffed out by the excellent play of Beaudry as he held the 77\'s to just the one goal, with a 3-1 win and earning the Als the sweep of the 5 game series.
The management and staff of the 77\'s would like to congratulate and commend each and every player for their committment this season and that they should all be extremely proud of their efforts.
Please stay tuned and check the website for upcoming tryout times and camps and we look forward to seeing you all very soon.
On behalf of the 77\'s, we would like to thank the many sponsors, parents and fans that have allowed this dream to come to fruition. Without all of your undying support and assistance, the return of the 77\'s and Junior hockey would not have been possible and we are so very grateful for everything that you have done.
