The South Muskoka Shield had to lose sometime.

After driving a 17-game win streak through the regular season and into the playoffs, the Shield was defeated by the Elliot Lake Bobcats 3-1 Wednesday night on home ice, taking the north division final to Game 5.
The Bobcats’ win closes the gap on the best-of-seven series that now stands 3-1 favouring the Shield.
Hundreds of fans watching the game were visibly shaken and disappointed by the lack luster play that led to the Shield’s fifth loss this year. The Shield’s poor performance and passing resulted in a flat effort.
When asked if players were tired, head coach Dallyn Telford said, “You can’t tell me Elliot Lake’s not tired after riding the bus for five hours.”
