The Deseronto Storm hosted the South Muskoka Shield in Deseronto on Saturday, March 28. But Deseronto prevailed 7-6 in overtime. The Storm eventually lost the series in six games.

On the website for the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League, the webmaster called it the most exciting series in GMHL history.

That probably won’t make members of the Deseronto Storm feel any better, after losing the sixth and deciding game of the league finals 4-2 Tuesday night at the Deseronto Community Recreation Centre to the South Muskoka Shield.

Rob Childs opened the scoring for the visitors just 26 seconds into the first period, but Brad Clark responded for the home side less that three minutes later.

The Shield went up 2-0 with five minutes left in the opening period, as Nick Leigh got his first of two goals on the night.

He scored his second goal of the game at the five minute mark of the second period to make it 3-1.

Another Shield goal three and a half minutes later made it 4-1.

The Storm were not able to mount a comeback, but did manage one more tally, as Andrew Bobas scored with 1:06 left in the third period.
