Happy New Year! We are now into the 2023 portion of the schedule and with it we have the first set of power rankings for the New Year. After a strong December the Bradford Rattlers find themselves at #1, only failing to retrieve a point in 1 out of their 26 games this season. After a pair of losses to Northern Alberta and a one goal game to the Ice Kings the Red Wings fall out of the top spot and land at #2. The Pirates come in at 3 after a strong showing at the showcase winning against both the #1 and #2 south teams by a combined score of 14-2. Durham remains at 4 ending off 2022 with a pair of strong victories in December over the Renegades and Bulls and a strong showing against the Rattlers. North York rounds out the top 5 still in 1st in the south division standings despite a pair of losses at the showcase to Ville-Marie and the Rattlers. Meaford, who had been the #7 team the previous three rankings finally makes the jump to #6, thanks in no small part to the victory over the previously #6 (Now #7) Bradford Bulls via shootout at the showcase. Mackenzie stays at 8 while Northern Alberta jumps from 10 to 9 after those victories over High Prairie. The Canadian National Championships host Titans round out the top 10. Honourable Mentions go to the Muskoka Shield, Edson Eagles, and West Nipissing Lynx
