Home Opening Week

After our first three games of the season, the GMHL moves forward to the first full week of games

After our first three games of the season, the GMHL moves forward to the first full week of games. The home openers of the week are as follows:

Monday, September 19th 2022:

The Durham Roadrunners will host the Tottenham Thunder, who will be playing their second game of the season and their first away game. The Roadrunners will be looking to avenge last season’s finals loss and will be looking to start strong as they defend their home ice at Del Park Homes Centre in Oshawa.

Wednesday, September 21st 2022:

The Bradford Bulls will be getting a visit from the Streetsville Flyers at the Bob Fallis Arena. Last season, the Bulls finished third in the North Division with a record of 25-9-0-4. While the Flyers finished 7th in the South Division with a record of 12-26-0-0. 

Friday, September 23rd 2022:

The Fox Creek Ice Kings will face off versus the Northern Alberta Tomahawks. The Ice Kings finished 4th in the West Division last season with a record of 21-21-0-0. While the Tomahawks finished 2nd in the West Division with a record of 29-8-0-4. 

Staying in the West Division, the defending West Division champions High Prairie Red Wings will defend their home ice versus the Edson Eagles. Last season the Red Wings posted a regular season record of 40-1-0-0. While the Eagles finished 3rd in the division with a 23-12-0-5 record. 

The Gibbons Pioneers will be hosting the Slave Lake IceDogs. Last season the West Division rivals respectively finished the season with a record of 17-24-0-1 and 1-41-0-0. 

Moving things to the South Division, the Niagara Predators will be playing their second game this season while hosting the Northumberland Stars at the Meridian Credit Union Arena. Last season the Stars posted a record of 15-21-0-2 giving them a 5th place finish. 

For the North Division matchup, the West Nipissing Lynx will host the South Muskoka Shield. Last season the Lynx finished 7th in the North Division with a record of 11-24-0-3. While the Shield finished 9th in the division with a record of 9-28-0-2.

Saturday, September 24th 2022:

Following up on their matchup versus the Pioneers, the Slave Lake IceDogs will host the Fox Creek Ice Kings at the Multi Recreation Complex.

After visiting the Tottenham Thunder last week, the Windsor Aces will be playing host to them at the Adie Knox Herman Arena. 

The Northern Alberta Tomahawks will be defending home ice versus the former champions High Prairie Red Wings. Coming off an away game versus the Fox Creek Ice Kings, the Tomahawks will be playing the second of their back-to-back games.

Last week’s game of the week matchup, Ville-Marie Pirates versus the Temiscaming Titans will go head-to-head once again at the Frere Arthur Bergeron Arena. 

After a game against the Redwings, the West Division Edson Eagles will play host to the Gibbons Pioneers at the Repsol Arena.

After playing in Bradford on Wednesday, the Streetsville Flyers will be hosting the Bulls at the Paramount Ice Complex.

Sunday, September 25th:

After a record of 19-18-0-1 and a 6th place finish in the North Division last season, the Bancroft Rockhounds will be looking to start the new season strong by hosting the Durham Roadrunners at the North Hastings Community Centre. 

The Bradford Rattlers will be hosting the West Nipissing Lynx at the BWG Leisure Centre. Last season, the Rattlers finished 2nd place in the North Division with a record of 31-5-0-2.

Upcoming Home Openers:

Friday, September 30th: The Northumberland Stars will play host to the North York Renegades. North York finished second in the South Division last season with a record of 31-7-0-0 and will look to have a strong start versus the Stars at the Keeler Centre.

Saturday, October 1st 2022: The North York Renegades will host the St. George Ravens at the Canlan Ice Sports York Arena.

Friday, October 7th 2022: The South Muskoka Shield will be hosting the Bancroft Rockhounds at the Graeme Murray Arena.

Thursday, October 13th 2022: The Meaford Knights will be hosting the Bancroft Rockhounds at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre. The Knights finished 4th in the North Division last season with a 21-13-0-4 record.

Saturday, October 15th 2022: After coming off a last-place finish in the North Division with a 7-28-0-3 record. The Almaguin Spartans will be looking for a strong start while hosting the Meaford Knights
